Artists in School, Craft Stories at Scott County Elementary
Nashville, TN - March 12, 2024 — Tennessee Craft is excited to announce the expansion of its
"Artists in School, Craft Stories" program to include Scott County Elementary Schools, in
Tennessee, featuring a special engagement with Tennessee Craft member, artist Barbara Cara from Jonesborough, TN.
On March 18, 2024, this event will see over 100 fifth graders participate in an interactive ceramic session led by Cara, who will share her process and provide instruction emphasizing the role of craft in preserving cultural heritage and fostering creativity.
In the spring of 2024, Scott County Elementary is one of four county schools in Tennessee selected for this enriching program, alongside Hancock, Bledsoe, and Grundy counties.
We are excited to engage with Scott County Schools where our goal is to bring the transformative power of craft to local students," said Kim Waag, Executive Director of Tennessee Craft. "Through 'Artists in School, Craft Stories,' we hope to inspire a new generation of craft artists and foster a deeper appreciation for the role of craft art in our lives and culture."
