Textbooks used in Tennessee public schools are selected from the Official List of Textbooks approved by the Tennessee State Board of Education upon recommendation from the State Textbook Commission.
Textbooks are adopted locally by the Scott County Board of Education upon recommendation of a committee of teachers appointed by the Board. Textbooks are adopted on a six year cycle established by the State.
