All Parents & Students -
As we enter Week 2 of our extended dismissal, I want to sincerely thank every student and family. You were given very little notice and a lot of responsibility, and you all really stepped up! The things that we’ve seen over the last week have been amazing, and we’ve never been prouder of our students, parents, and teachers.
What we know about the COVID-19 situation is changing every hour. It is frustrating, but be confident that we are staying up-to-date through conference calls with the Governor and Commissioner of Education 3 times each week. I am communicating with other Directors, School Administrators, Local Government officials, and Local Health professionals on a daily basis. Our commitment is to continue to make decisions that will keep us all healthy and get us all back to school as soon as safely possible.
As of now, Scott County Schools will be closed until March 31. That deadline has not been extended yet, but there is good possibility that it might. We are preparing for that possibility, but I will make a final decision on the return date as this time gets closer. I have also had many questions regarding Spring Break. There will be a Spring Break. Again, there will be more information to come on this as we get closer to those dates.
On Monday, March 23, we will continue with Food Service at the 5 elementary schools from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. Tomorrow (3/23/2020), we will serve all meals for the week – 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches for each child. At 12:00 noon, all Scott County School buildings will close, including the Central Office, until further notice. This will be the only Food Service this week, and we will evaluate the possibility of continuing this service next week.
As always, everyone needs to continue to check ScottCounty.Net every day for the most recent updates and information.
In closing, thank you to all students and parents who have worked with us during this stressful time. We want to also especially thank all of you who have reached out with kind words of encouragement and to those of you who have prayed over our schools and leaders during this time. Continue to pray for our community and our country. Pray for our students. Keep yourself safe by staying at home and following the CDC guidelines.
May God continue to Bless us All.
Bill Hall, Director of Schools
